Tips for Setting up at an RV Campground
Going on your first RV adventure can be an amazing time, but before you hit the road, there’s a lot you need to learn about traveling via a motorhome so you don’t run into any hiccups along the way. One of the important things you need to become familiar with is how to set up camp at campground locations. With this in mind, we’ve put together a list of the top tips for getting your motorhome situated at your first campsite, ensuring you have everything you require to get the most out of your stay and have a great experience that you’ll never forget.
Upon Arrival
As soon as you arrive to your RV camp, see if there is a staff member on hand to guide you to your spot. Locate you nearest electrical, water and sewer hookups and position your RV to where you can access them. In addition to this, you’ll also want to find out if you have back in or pull into your designated spot. Certain campgrounds are set up differently, so it’s important to know the proper parking method in order to properly position your vehicle.
Securing the RV
Once you’ve parked your RV in its spot, make sure you set the parking brake in order to secure the motorhome. Depending on the terrain in the campground, you may also want to use blocks to balance the RV. These can be especially beneficial if your site is located on a hill or rocky location.
Power/Water Hookups
To receive power, plug RV’s power cord into the campgrounds electrical unit and change your refrigerator the AC setting in order to switch from propane to electrical power. If need be, you can also utilize electrical adapters, but try to stray from using extension cords. Once you’re done hooking up the power, use a potable RV hose to retrieve water by connecting it from the camp’s water supply to your tank. Make sure you check for leaks to ensure it’s working properly. If you happen to have a sewer hookup at your site, you can also attach the sewer hose to the sewer drain outlet in order to remove waster. Just be sure to wear latex gloves while you complete the process to keep your hands clean at all times.
As soon as you complete these steps, Your RV will be officially set up and ready to go. The only thing left to do is turn on the gas supply valve and decorate the exterior by putting out chairs, tables or an awning, completing the overall set up.
