The summer sun is shining bright and it’s now time to take out the RV and head out on a family road trip. With the kids in tow, we suggest making your way to some of the country’s greatest amusement parks. And, to help you decide which ones to visit, we’ve come up with a list of the top 5 campground-friendly theme parks in America.
Disneyland – Anaheim, California
If you’ll be traveling along the California coast this summer, be sure to make a pit stop at Anaheim’s most thrilling local attraction: Disneyland! Home to everyone’s favorite cartoon rodent, Mickey Mouse, Disneyland continues to be a top destination for families on summer vacation. It’s also a great spot for RV-goers, offering campsite locations just minutes away from the park, such as Anaheim Harbor RV Park and Anaheim RV Park.
Walt Disney World – Orlando, Florida
Since we’re on the topic of Disney, we can’t forget to mention Walt Disney World in Orlando. It’s one of the biggest and most visited theme parks in the world, drawing in close to 150,000 guests a day. Among these visitors are RVers, who tend to setup shop at Disney’s own Fort Wilderness Resort & Campgroud. Offering a variety of excellent amenities, including internet service and cable TV, it’s a great spot for out-of-towners.
Universal Studios – Orlando, Florida
Once you’re finished enjoying the wonders of Disney World, head over to Universal Studios and explore one of the park’s newest attractions: The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. While you spend some time making your way around the park and taking spins on a few of its most famous rides, you can have your RV parked at Winter Garden Village, located just 7 miles from Universal.
Cedar Point Amusement Park – Sandusky, Ohio
Does your family have a love for rollercoasters? If so, Cedar Point is the place to go. It’s the second-oldest amusement park in the U.S. and is home to an incredible 17 rollercoasters! With a total of 71 rides scattered across the 365-acre park, there’s plenty of fun to be had a Cedar Point. The theme park even has its own campground, Lighthouse Point, featuring full hookup sites for RVs.
Mt. Olympus Water & Theme Park – Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin
Known as the “Waterpark Capital of the World,” Wisconsin Dells is home to seven indoor and outdoor water parks. Mt. Olympus Water & Theme Park is one of the most notable parks in the area, offering 53 attractions and four different indoor/outdoor water park areas. Near the park, you’ll find several different campgrounds to call home for a few days while you experience what Wisconsin Dells has to offer.
