Staying Warm and Cozy in Your RV This Fall

Camping in an RV in the fall is a lot of fun, but how do you stay warm when it starts to get cold outside? Since you can’t very well run your RV’s heat all night, here are some tips for staying warm and cozy while you’re camping.

Insulate Your RV

Before you leave for any camping trip, check your RV for drafts around windows and doors. If you find any, seal them with some weather stripping. You can also hang thermal curtains from your windows to retain heat inside of your RV.

Dress in Layers

When you know it’s going to get cold outside, dress in layers to help keep warm. Start with moisture-wicking clothing as your base layer, and wear clothing made from insulating materials such as fleece or down over it. Finish off with a waterproof outer layer if you’re going to spend any amount of time outdoors, especially if you’re expecting rain.

Cook Warm Meals in Your RV

Cooking warm meals will help keep the inside of your RV warm and provide comfort. Your RV’s oven and stovetop are both great for this, but even heating some soup or a warm beverage in a microwave will provide some heat and comfort.

Get Some Good Bedding

A heavy blanket will keep you warm at night, but you should also invest in a good mattress. It should be well-insulated and thick enough to provide a good night’s sleep. Even if you need to use an air mattress, check to make sure that it will provide enough insulation and padding to keep you comfortable at night. Even if you’re reasonably warm in your RV, an uncomfortable mattress that keeps you up all night will still make you miserable.
