Beat the Cold at These Top RV Winter Destinations

Hitting the open road and traveling across the country in an RV can bring you all the freedom in the world. With everything you need in the comfort of your motorhome, you can choose to settle wherever you please. This makes RVs perfect for summer road trips; however, when the weather starts to cool down, it’s a different story. Most RVs are not built to handle frigid temperatures, which can make winter traveling out of the question. But, if you’re looking for someplace warm to ride out the cooler months, there are plenty of RV-friendly destinations to head to. Whether you’re traveling way down south or to the west coast, we know a few places that will cure your winter blues.

The Southwestern region of the United States is one of the most popular areas for people who want to ditch the snow and take in warm sunrays during the winter months. Arizona has become one of the top states for snowbirds, who want to enjoy temperatures in the high 60s during January. The desert climate is perfect for those who enjoy exploring the outdoors, hiking, running, biking, golfing and everything in between. There are also plenty of RV parks open year-round, so you’ll always have a place to stay.

Fellow nearby states, Texas and California, are also great destinations for RVers when the cold weather begins to hit too close to home. In the Lone Star State, Livingston is a well-known location for winter travelers. The town’s Escapees RV Club has become a go-to spot for RVers trying to escape the cold weather. Like Texas, southern California areas, such as San Diego and Los Angeles, are great locations for RV aficionados. There are plenty of local attractions to check out and incredible beaches that are open throughout the winter months.

If the southwestern region isn’t your cup of tea, Florida is another top place to travel during December and January. It’s filled with top tourist destinations, including Tampa, Miami and Orlando, which each offer luxurious resorts, warm beaches, beautiful swimming pools and excellent family entertainment, such as Disney World and Universal Studios. Topped off with temps in the 70s, Florida is one of the best winter destinations.

Before you head out in your RV this winter, research the top attractions in each state mentioned above to map out your ideal winter travel guide. With so much to see in every location, you’ll enjoy yourself all winter long.
