Rainy Day RV Activities for the Kids

Taking RV trips with the entire family can be a fun experience for all, but once in a while you’re bound to come across rainy weather, which can sometimes put a damper on your plans. These days can be especially hard for kids, who want nothing more than to enjoy the warm weather, which forces parents to get creative with their daily agenda. In order to make these days easier for families on the road, we’ve come up with a few activities fit for children of all ages that will help pass the time.

Play in the Rain

Playing in the rain may be the most obvious activity for children to partake in while RVing on a rainy day, but it can also be the best solution to curing boredom. Letting your kids jump in puddles and splash around is sometimes all that’s needed to keep them happy on a rainy day.

Play Board Games

Always bring a few board games with you when setting out on an RV trip in order to pass the time when going outdoors isn’t an option. Monopoly, Candy Land, The Game of Life and Scrabble are a few top choices families often enjoy playing while on the road.

Pick Up a Book

Books are a great way to keep the family entertained on a rainy day. Stop by a local store or the library before your trip and grab a few selections for the kids. Pop-up books tend to be popular with the little ones, while book series’ are enjoyed by the older kids. Getting lost in a good book is always an excellent way to spend some free time while out on the road.

Visit Local Indoor Attractions

If you’re tired of being cooped up in the RV on a rainy day, find an indoor local attraction for you and your family to visit. You can take a trip to the aquarium or a museum with the entire family, or choose to go indoor go kart racing, play laser tag or try your hand at bowling.

Watch a Movie

Sometimes a rainy day can be a good excuse to relax and there’s no better way to do that than by watching a movie with the whole family. Make sure you pick a flick everyone can enjoy and don’t forget to bring the popcorn – it’s a necessity!
