5 Ways to Maintain Your RV
Let’s face it, buying an RV is probably one of the biggest purchases you’ll ever make. So doesn’t it make sense to want to protect your investment? We agree, that’s why we’ve come up with a list of five simple ways to help you keep your RV in tip-top shape.
1. Lubricate Your RV
This is one of the best ways to ensure that your RV is up to par. Keep all hinges, sliders, locks and anything else that moves well lubricated. By lubricating these moving parts on a regular basis, you’ll help prolong the life of your RV’s many components.
2. Make Sure Parts Are Tight
RVs are basically homes on wheels, meaning they are vulnerable to every little or big bump you encounter on the road. Things are going to come loose at some point or another, so try to retighten everything often. And pay special attention to items on the exterior of your RV that are prone to flying off during transit.
3. Keep Your RV Clean
Everything works better when clean. By regularly cleaning your RV’s carpet, cabinets, toilets, sinks, tables and beds, you’ll help keep your motorhome from losing its value. In addition, it will look its very best when you have friends and family inside for a visit.
4. Sanitize Your Tanks
Depending on how much time you spend in your RV, you will need to sanitize your tanks. When dumping, make sure to have a nearly full tank to propel the solids with a good flushing action. We also recommend running some bleach through the system to help clean and deodorize.
5. Seals & Seams
Try to inspect your RV, as often as you can, for cracking or holes, especially on the roof. Water leaks can significantly damage your RV and can be easy to overlook. Ones that go unnoticed inside a wall or on a roof for a long period of time can cause rot and mold to develop.
